Challenges:
Farmers lack real-time, location-specific weather updates for managing crops efficiently.
Weather enthusiasts often find apps overwhelming or disconnected from their needs.
Existing solutions fail to integrate community discussions and actionable insights in one platform.
Problem Statement:
Farmers and weather enthusiasts require a simple, accurate, and engaging way to track weather and agricultural conditions. Terra Solis bridges this gap by offering personalized forecasts, tailored farming insights, and a platform for community connection.
Goals:
Provide personalized weather updates based on user location.
Foster a community for farmers and weather enthusiasts to share tips and advice.
Ensure a seamless and intuitive user experience through clean design.
Research:
To understand the needs, pain points, and preferences of potential users, I conducted:
User Interviews: Engaged with 2 farmers and 2 weather enthusiasts to explore their current tools and pain points.
Competitor Analysis: Analyzed existing weather and farming apps to identify feature gaps and design weaknesses.
Affinity Mapping: Identified key themes like real-time updates, ease of use, and the value of community engagement.
Key Findings:
Users prioritize location-based weather and farming data.
Farmers and enthusiasts value platforms that allow them to share experiences and seek advice.
Overly complex interfaces deter regular usage; users prefer streamlined and clear designs.
Combining weather tracking with farming tips adds immense value.

1. The Balance of Technical Complexity with Simplicity:
Weather data and farming analytics can be overwhelming. The challenge was presenting complex information in a digestible, user-friendly format while maintaining depth for those who need it.
2. Community as a Key Engagement Factor:
Research revealed that farmers and weather enthusiasts benefit greatly from shared knowledge. The inclusion of community forums and interactive discussion features helped increase engagement and long-term user retention.
Conclusion
Terra Solis makes weather tracking and farming insights more accessible by providing real-time, location-specific data in a way that’s easy to understand and use. By combining accurate forecasts with practical farming tips and a strong sense of community, the platform helps users make better decisions without feeling overwhelmed by complex information.
This project reinforced the importance of designing for real-world challenges, especially in industries that rely on precise, actionable data.
